Why choose aluminum and magnelis steel for your solar structures?

Why should I choose Aluminum or Steel magnelis for solar structures? In addition to the shape of the photovoltaic structure, its anchoring and fixing possibilities and its configuration, another element to take into account when purchasing the necessary support for the solar panels is the material used.

Due to their physical properties, aluminum and magnelis steel are the most commonly used materials in the manufacture of solar panel supports, and at Alusín we use both materials to take full advantage of their properties.

Aluminum structures

The multiple advantages of aluminum have made it the most widely used material for the manufacture of photovoltaic structures, and at Alusín Solar it is present in both our roof structures and ground structures. Its ease of assembly and molding, its lightness and its high degree of recyclability are some of its strong points.

Steel and aluminum for solar structures

Lightness

The weight of aluminum is very low compared to other metals, which reduces transportation costs and is a great help when it comes to easily lifting the structures to the roofs on which they are to be installed. Its lightness also helps to speed up the installation process and to reduce the weight of the roofs.

Recyclability and sustainability

About 95% of the aluminum used in the manufacture of solar structures can be recovered through recycling without altering its characteristics. Aluminum recycling allows practically all of the material to be reused, in addition to producing no environmentally harmful waste.

Aluminum is a completely environmentally friendly material, and only 5% of the energy used during the first melting process is used during recycling.

Thermal conductivity and fire resistance

The high thermal conductivity of this material allows heat to spread rapidly over the entire surface, thus avoiding the concentration of heat in fixed points of the structure. Its high melting range, above 600º, guarantees its resistance in the most extreme climates.

Versatility

Aluminum is highly moldable, so cutting, welding, machining, drilling, and riveting is very easy. In addition, it accepts molding very well, so all kinds of shapes can be formed during extrusion.

Magnelis steel structures

Magnelis steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, even in aggressive environments, thanks to its unique metallic coating. This translates into increased durability and service life of structures, especially in applications exposed to chlorides and ammonia, such as in coastal or agricultural areas. In addition, Magnelis has a self-repairing effect that protects edges and perforations, which prolongs its service life and reduces the need for maintenance.

At Alusín Solar we use it, along with aluminum, in the manufacture of ground supports, whether for self-consumption projects, solar pumping or solar farms.

Corrosion resistance:

Magnelis offers superior corrosion resistance to standard galvanized steel, up to 10 times more.

Durability:

Its corrosion resistance and self-repairing effect increase the service life of structures.

Profitability:

It offers good value for money compared to other steels with protective coatings.
