What are metal structures for solar panels?

Metal structures are components designed to support solar panels, whether on roofs, floors or specific installations such as solar pergolas. Their main function is to provide stability, proper orientation and resistance to factors such as wind and snow loads.

There are different types of structures depending on the use:

  • Fixed, ideal for flat roofs and terrains.
  • Orientable, allowing the angle of inclination to be adjusted according to the season of the year.
  • Solar trackers, which maximize radiation capture by moving close to the sun.

Most of these materials are recoverable, allowing for efficient and cost-effective recycling.

In Europe, metal structures for solar panels must comply with the UNE-EN 1090-1 standard, which regulates aspects such as mechanical strength, load-bearing capacity and durability. In addition, CE marking is mandatory, certifying that the product meets the required quality and safety standards. This process includes factory production evaluations and technical documentation, such as the Declaration of Performance (DoP).
